Witchcraft Without Candles
How the Narcissist Desires Your Soul.
I never recognized it as witchcraft at first — I only understood it as narcissism, until God showed me they were the same spirit operating in different language. That draining, manipulative, controlling presence wasn’t just “a difficult personality” — it was a force that wanted spiritual ownership over me. Narcissistic abuse isn’t just emotional harm; it is a form of domination that targets the soul — the exact thing Scripture identifies as witchcraft.
The Bible defines witchcraft far beyond cauldrons and spells — it is rooted in rebellion, domination, control, and the elevation of self-will above God.
“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.”
1 Samuel 15:23 (KJV)
In other words: witchcraft is not just ritual — it is a person’s refusal to accept God’s order, God’s boundaries, or God’s right to be Lord over another person’s life. It is the belief: “My will must rule above God’s will for your life.”
Narcissism is not just emotional abuse — it is a form of spiritual takeover.
It is witchcraft without candles — because it doesn’t want access to your life, it wants dominion over your soul.
At first I thought I was just dealing with broken people, difficult personalities, or immaturity. But as God opened my eyes, I realized the root was much deeper: this wasn’t disappointment — it was idolatry. It wasn’t conflict — it was possession. It wasn’t connection — it was spiritual domination.
This is why narcissistic people don’t just want love — they want lordship. They don’t want relationship — they want rule. Their rage is never about love lost — it is about power lost.
And once I understood that, everything I had lived through finally made sense.
⸻
MARRIAGE — THE FIRST FORM OF OWNERSHIP
The first place I encountered this spirit was in my marriage. I did not recognize it as witchcraft then — I mistook it for “covering,” sacrifice, loyalty, and submission. I thought smallness was faithfulness. I thought silence was peace. But what I was living under was possession masked as partnership.
He didn’t want partnership — he wanted ownership dressed up as marriage.
I didn’t know it was witchcraft when I was living through it — I only knew something in me kept shrinking. At the time I told myself I was being loyal, patient, understanding, or “submissive.” I said I was keeping peace. But peace doesn’t erase you. Peace doesn’t silence the soul. Peace doesn’t require you to disappear.
What I was living under wasn’t peace — it was permission to exist only in the parts of me that served someone else’s comfort.
The control didn’t begin loud; it began subtle. It sounded like care, like guidance, like covering. Protection eventually became restriction. Restriction became obedience. Obedience became erasure.
By the time I realized I was losing myself, I was already spiritually exhausted — because witchcraft doesn’t steal you all at once; it steals you piece by piece.
The marriage ended, but the spirit of ownership tried to continue through consequences instead of contact.
To this day, I can feel the resistance in the spirit realm. I have been divorced for more than twelve years and yet I still feel the warfare —
Narcissists do not stop at possessing your past —
they attempt to sabotage your future.
⸻
BUSINESS — EXPLOITATION DISGUISED AS “SUPPORT”
The next place I saw this spirit was in business — where I supported small beginnings: house appointments, loyalty referrals, promoting and believing in people before they were established. But when poor service required correction instead of applause, I instantly became a threat. My worth had never been my loyalty — it had been my silence.
They did not value me — only my contribution.
They wanted my support, not my dignity.
My money, not my humanity.
The second I asked for justice, the relationship collapsed — because they weren’t attached to me, only to what flowed from me.
That is not entrepreneurship — that is economic abuse.:
⸻
FASHION — IMAGE WITHOUT HUMANITY
I saw the same spirit in the fashion world — where image is idolized and humanity disappears. I was juggling motherhood, a full-time teaching career, graduate school, grief, exhaustion — still showing up — and yet a delayed text response became grounds for removal.
Not because I lacked commitment,
but because I failed to obey.
I wasn’t removed because I walked away — I was removed because I wasn’t controllable.
Grief didn’t matter. Being a mother didn’t matter. Being a full-time teacher didn’t matter. Only performance mattered.
That is not opportunity —
that is possession of image.
⸻
EDUCATION — COMPETITION MASQUERADING AS AUTHORITY
I even saw it in education, where a professor retaliated not from righteousness but insecurity — weaponizing a position meant to develop students into a tool of humiliation, simply because my presence activated jealousy.
⸻
CHURCH / COMMUNITY — SPIRITUAL HIERARCHY
Then I saw the most camouflaged form — in church culture, where control hides behind scripture and ego hides behind “spiritual authority.” Here, belonging becomes conditional, reputation becomes leveraged, and calling becomes something “church people” believe they have the right to approve, limit, or deny.
When I no longer sat in the same setting, I didn’t lose fellowship —
I lost support. I was seen as evil. I was misunderstood. I was a topic of shame and not trust.
⸻
WHEN A SPIRIT BECOMES A CULTURE
As I kept encountering this pattern, I realized I was no longer dealing with individuals — I was dealing with a regional spirit that has found agreement in people, networks, and unhealed souls.
In New Orleans, this spirit masquerades as connection, creativity, culture, and collaboration — but beneath it is competition, control, intimidation, and spiritual gatekeeping.
Women are embraced until they grow.
Supported until they are no longer dependent.
This is a spirit of domination masquerading as community support.
Not unity — but surveillance.
Not sisterhood — but ownership.
Not leadership — but quiet rulership disguised as care.
This is not community —
it is captivity with social charm.
⸻
PROPHETIC WARNING
I am no longer silent about this: narcissistic control is witchcraft, and it has paralyzed far too many women for far too long. This spirit is stealing destinies, silencing voices, and strangling callings in relationships, in business circles, in creative spaces, and even in churches. And I am calling it out for what it is.
You do not belong to anyone but God.
⸻
INVITATION TO WOMEN
I know I am not the only one who has encountered this. There are women all over this city — and beyond — who have been spiritually drained, silenced, discredited, punished, or quietly sabotaged the moment they refused to surrender their identity.
If this resonated with you, I want to invite you into the conversation.
Have you experienced this spirit —
in a relationship,
a friendship,
a workplace,
a church,
or a business connection?
Your voice matters.
Your story matters.
Your awareness matters.
You are not alone —
You are discerning spiritual warfare.
